Retire As Soon As Possible And Enjoy Your Life More

I’ve spent the last 7 1/2 years traveling and living around the world. I retired right at the peak of my earning potential because I discovered that living in the present is more rewarding than working to support a lifestyle.
Most people spend their lives responding to life rather than choosing their actions. When you have a job you’re responding.
You’re doing what the job requires. And having a job is in response to needing money to support a house and a lifestyle. When those large responsibilities are in place you have to feed them and you loose your choices.
What is more important, a nice lifestyle now and when you’re older, or an active lifestyle while you’re still younger and healthy?
I suspect that many people continue to work so they don’t have to make decisions about what to do with their time and their life. When you have a job and a lifestyle your calendar is always busy and you don’t have time to think.
When you retire you choose how to spend your time and your mind is free to think.
It can take less money to retire than you think. You have to change your priorities and reduce your lifestyle. To a certain extent you can trade your time for money and retire sooner.
In other words you can take time and shop for better bargains that cost less money, you can choose public transportation over the shiny new BMW. You can fly economy rather than first class. Walk instead of taking a taxi.
I think people tend to delay their decision to retire out of fear rather than hope. Or laziness instead of choice.
